Exciting Changes Taking Place at Active Humber

Humber Sports Partnership Ltd trading as Active Humber have successfully delivered against our contracts with Sport England over recent years whilst identifying areas for new business development that sit outside our core role as a County Sports Partnership. These areas including RAMP and Activating Confidence, have seen significant growth over recent years, with increasing numbers of young people being supported into work, education and volunteering. The scope of this work offers further significant growth and therefore further community benefit for the Humber.
Following a review of Active Humber and a consultation period led by Campbell Tickell, a leading consultancy operating in the sports and community development field, the Active Humber Company Board made a unanimous decision to create a new company to lead its work in mentoring and education, at a meeting on 30th June 2017. The new company will be known as Athena Aspire Ltd and will commence trading on the 1st October 2017. The County Sports Partnership role will remain under the Active Humber brand delivered by Humber Sports Partnership Ltd.
There will be a new primary role that Active Humber will deliver for Sport England and our CEO Gary Hood has indicated he will step down from his role on 30th September 2017. Given these two substantial developments for Active Humber it is felt that now is the perfect time to take this action, which will see Athena Aspire Ltd flourish as a new company and allow Active Humber to concentrate on its core role as a County Sports Partnership and increase its strategic partnership working to deliver against a new strategy for Sport and Physical Activity across the Humber that will be launching soon.
These are very exciting times for both Active Humber and Athena Aspire and we wish both companies every success in the future to deliver against the needs of those across the Humber.
