As a child I was always sporty and took part in various activities. When I was 14 I started playing football for my local women's team and I loved it. My Mum is not a football fan, however she was always happy to encourage me to play, took me to training and Sunday matches. At 16 my Mum drove me 265 miles to Durham to try out for the National Women's Football Academy, a few months after that she drove me to my halls of residence to take up my place. Without my Mum and Dads support I would not have been able to attend the National Women's Football Academy or taken my coaching qualifications which gave me the opportunity to coach soccer in America.
